Deborah Moses - b.1966, Liverpool

Deborah Moses has become synonymous in fused glass circles for high quality, hand crafted, fused glass sculptures, with her work being recognised and admired both nationally and internationally.

Deborah's family have a long history associated with glass, so it was always in her blood that she should follow tradition and, although naturally self taught, her formal artistic career began in 2002, training in Bristol and privately in London, continuing her own creative professional development by attending master classes.

Based in inspiring Cheshire, Deborah set up the TSZebra sudio in 2004, wanting it to be not just a predominant studio for her own artwork, but also to be able to teach and share her vision with others not only of her extensive fused glass knowledge, but also of the intricacies and disciplines of her second skill & media in fine & sterling silver. Ever in demand, students travel to learn from Deborah from all over the UK and as far as France, Ireland, South Africa and New Zealand.

Deborah's ideas and new designs are created on paper first, but sometimes just mentally stored for months with each thought subtly evolving, visualising the design before working towards producing the end result - Deborah has gone on to say that these are the most exciting projects to work on and when the time is right Deborah just feels the need to clear the studio and work nonstop until the creation has been completed.

The name 'The Silver Zebra' originates from her love of music, and in particular of Marc Bolan and David Bowie; Zebra had been a nickname for some years as Bolan's song 'Deborah',  whose lyrics 'Deborah is a zebra'  will attest. 'Silver' is used as a second discipline together with her kiln formed glass, of which the latest series created being named 'beneath the tide' [see online store]

Deborah's family and friends have played a big part in the success of her career and for that she is truly thankful.

''it started but with a grain of sand, with colours and shapes bouncing in my mind - sand and ideas that's all it is, but it is one's hands that are the tools that create''
