This workshop is suitable for anyone wishing to learn the methods of Art Clay Silver or PMC, we will introduce you to the basics of handling silver clay, stopping it drying out! rolling, cutting, shaping, texturising & making your own unique moulds, textures & bails! We give lots of hints & tips on how to get started yourself at home too - it is an addictive hobby!

We also include the crucial finishing aspects of Art Clay Silver enabling a professional result. You will also use syringe art clay & paste which is very usefull for filling in mistakes & hiding joins in your work ..if you have any! The course is very indepth but lots of fun! You will be able to make at least 4 pieces if not more of Fine silver Jewellery. and, YES! it is real silver! Take a look at our student page for images of work made on this course!!

This 1 day silversmithing jewellery course offers a fantastic & indepth but fun! introduction to the techniques of jewellery making using traditional Silversmithing methods. Cutting using snips & saws, shape forming using doming blocks, planishing, drilling, easy! soldering methods, filing & polishing are just some of the techniques that will be used to produce several pieces of contemporary silver jewellery ready for you to wear! You will also have the chance to make earring wires and a silver bail which will add those personal touches to your pendant design. We will also provide catalogues & suppliers details with SZ discounts! to those who wish to carry on with silversmithing in the form of a hobby or, new business. During the course you will create several pieces of jewellery chosen by you using 925 silver in sheet and wire form. Additional silver wire charms can be made, time permitting.

You will learn how to make your own individual & sophisticated ear wires, jump rings, tags & toggles, showing how you can reduce your costs by making your own! We will also cover soldering on this course. This is suited to those already making jewellery or even complete beginners who want to add that individual style to their pendants & charm bracelets etc. This is a great way of making your jewellery individual to you! During the course you will create plenty of findings to take home, 2 pairs of earrings and work on producing a contemporary sterling silver necklace with toggle clasp. . .time permitting you can also make a charm for this. A full & informative day to anyone interested in jewellery making!!

You will cover both the traditional Silversmithing techniques & also new Silver clay methods to produce beautiful contemporary silver jewellery to a professional standard. Each piece will be individually designed & handcrafted with the help of your tutor using materials of the highest quality, including sterling silver sheet, fine silver clay, wire, beads & silver findings. This weekend class is ideal for the total beginner & will give you the knowledge & confidence to get started, set up at home & maybe start a new hobby or business! Lots of advice, hints & tips inc workshop handouts. You will create two pairs of earrings, two pendants as well as four charms or buttons of which can be attached to a bracelet or necklace. All silver findings are provided free of charge.

What does my course cover?


This unique course includes all the basic skills & techniques of silversmithing, silver clay & working with silver wire/bar/sheet to produce 3 very different rings. Techniques inc creating your own designs, masking, sawing silver sheet, soldering, makign a wedding band, filing & shaping, doming, working with 22ct gold plate, finishing and polishing. Working with silver clay you will emboss pattens, create your own moulds, shape & polish as well as learning how to handle silver clay. We will cover ring sizing, fitting & how to get that professional finish to your masterpieces! A super course that will really advance any silver skills you may already have, or if you are a complete beginner this will really get you started in the world of silver. We hold small classes of 6 with the individual attention you would expect from your tutor.
Students will be guided through the process of making all 3 silver rings, step by step.
