This workshop is suitable for complete novices wishing to learn the methods of Art Clay Silver or PMC, we will introduce you to the basics of handling silver clay, stopping it drying out! rolling, cutting, shaping, texturising & making your own unique moulds & bails! We give lots of hints & tips on how to get started yourself at home too - it is an addictive hobby!
We also include the crucial finishing aspects of Art Clay Silver enabling a professional result. You will also use syringe art clay & paste which is very usefull for filling in mistakes & hiding joins in your work ..if you have any! The course is very indepth but lots of fun! Learn the delicate art of silver flower crafting. You will create at least three stunning flowers with leaves such as: Lily, daisy, rose, lavender head, bird of paradise or pansy. Learn about adding textures, making stamens & creating your own moulds which you can use over & over again. The flowers can be taken home as they are or, turned into a pendant or brooch pin here at the studio. Silver wire & findings will be provided free of charge. "Silversmithing for Beginners" April 24th, May 8th, or June 19th 10am - 5pm £110 includes all materials, refreshments & organic farmhouse lunch!...& yes homemade cakes!
This jewellery course offers a fantastic & indepth but fun! introduction to the techniques of jewellery making using traditional Silversmithing methods. Cutting using snips & saw, forming using a doming block, planishing, drilling, soldering methods, filing & polishing are just some of the techniques that will be used to produce several pieces of contemporary silver jewellery ready for you to wear! You will also have the chance to make a bail which will add those personal touches to your pendant design. See samples of students work on the student workshop page!
During the course you will create several pieces of jewellery chosen by you using 925 silver in sheet and wire form. Additional silver wire charms can be made, time permitting!

We have added this course by student request as fretworking & peircing can give a very contemporary feel to your work with very limited skills needed. Learn to cut & shape sheet metal, solder, add a bail & learn how to finish your work to a professional standard. This is a very rewarding course day showing you the basic skills to take your silversmithing that one step further! Ideal for beginners or improvers. Project options: pendants, earrings, cufflinks, brooch pins or bracelet.
Create your own sterling silver findings & learn the easy way to solder! April 25th or May 29th 10am - 5pm £110 includes all materials & lunch [see our student page HERE for a peek at what other people have made on this course!]
You will learn how to make your own individual & sophisticated ear wires, jump rings, tags & toggles, showing how you can reduce your costs by making your own! We will also cover soldering on this course. This is suited to those already making jewellery or even complete beginners who want to add that individual style to their pendants & charm bracelets etc. This is a great way of making your jewellery individual to you! During the course you will create several findings to take home, 2 pairs of earrings and work on producing a contemporary sterling silver necklace with toggle clasp. . .time permitting you can also make a charm for this. A full & informative day to anyone interested in jewellery making!!

SILVER ART CLAY & SILVERSMITHING JEWELLERY WEEKEND SPECIAL! ~ IDEAL FOR BEGINNERS April 3rd & 4th or May 15th & 16th £195inc all materials & lunch 10am - 4pm
We will cover both the traditional Silversmithing techniques & also new Silver clay methods to produce beautiful contemporary silver jewellery. Each piece will be individually designed & handcrafted with the help of your tutor using materials of the highest quality, including sterling silver, fine silver, beads & silver findings. This weekend class is ideal for the total beginner & will give you the knowledge & confidence to get started, set up at home & maybe start a new hobby or business! Lots of advice, hints & tips inc workshop handouts. You will create two pairs of earrings, two pendants as well as four charms of which can be attached to a bracelet or necklace. All silver findings are provided free of charge.
